Spirit of Alba

Border pipes, fiddle and accordion set the tone for Spirit of Alba, a Perth five-piece that plays contemporary folk hard and fast. Whistle, guitar and keys round out the line-up, there's the odd sung number, and a few well-known songs get a folk makeover. Most of the set is high-tempo and made for stomping, with the occasional slower tune to let people catch their breath. They play 45-minute sets with a 20-minute break between each. The band was a featured act at the 2021 Fairbridge Folk Festival. Set-up calls for a full PA and, where possible, cover overhead. They travel up to 100 km.
