Amaidi

Amaidi is said Ah-mah-dee, and the name means nonsense, or silly. That's the spirit of this Brisbane four-piece, which plays fast Irish, Scottish and Australian trad tunes with heavy bass and a modern kick, alongside a good share of originals. Lachlan Baldwin sings and plays guitar, and Davydd McDonald is on fiddle. Jack Meimaris plays accordion while working the stomp boxes and effects that keep the beat and the bass pumping. Sam De Santi covers banjo and just about everything else, electric guitar included, and brings a deep background in Australian trad. The music is rooted in Celtic tradition, but you don't need any particular heritage to join in, because the whole point is a crowd that's dancing and having fun. They play pubs, parties and weddings, and travel Australia-wide.
