Alpen Musikanten

Fast polkas and waltzes get toes tapping early when Alpen Musikanten play. The Melbourne trio's speciality is Oberkrainer, the Alpine folk style of Germany, Slovenia and Austria, played the way it's heard in Europe today, on piano accordion, bass and guitar with vocals. The songs are sung in several languages, among them German, Slovenian and Italian, and they add popular tunes from neighbouring countries. The name is German for Alpine musicians. Put them on at an Oktoberfest or a multicultural celebration and you'll see several generations sharing the dance floor. They travel statewide and hold public liability insurance.
