RareTreats is a folk band based in Central Coast, NSW.
Everything RareTreats play is live, and they like getting close to the audience as much as playing from a stage. The Central Coast band formed in 2018 and usually plays as a four-piece, with duo and trio versions for smaller rooms. The instruments are half the fun: guitars, keyboard, mandolin, banjo mandolin, ukulele, piano accordion, suitcase percussion, a little washboard and the odd kazoo, all under four-part harmonies. The music runs through jug band, bluegrass, Chicago blues and New Orleans string band, with originals from their CD On the Streets. Alongside covers of Johnny Cash, The Kinks, Jimmy Barnes, Elvis Presley and the Rolling Stones, they dig up songs by Old Crow Medicine Show, Memphis Slim, Pokey LaFarge and Augie March. They need a dry, level space and power if amplified. Travel is up to 100 km.
