The Gathering

Irish trad tunes played with real energy, then a popular cover dropped into the middle, is how The Gathering keep a room on its feet. The trio is fronted by Mick McHugh, an award-winning Irish musician, and the band's mix of Irish and Australian players gives the old music a sound of its own. It's a good call for a St Patrick's-style party, a wedding with Irish family on one side, or any night that wants a jig and a sing. They've recorded for ABC Music, toured overseas, and played major festivals including the Australian Celtic Festival and Port Fairy Folk Festival. Home is the Gold Coast, and they travel nationwide.
