Sunshine Blues Band is a blues band based in Sunshine Coast, QLD.
Chicago blues sits at the root of the Sunshine Blues Band, played stripped back and built for dancing. Russ Babcock fronts the five-piece on harmonica and vocals, Chris Roberts plays guitar and Marc Chadwick is on keys, while Tony Vobr on bass and Don Ross on drums drive the rhythm. The sound reaches out to Texas and LA too, mixing traditional blues rhythms with some jazz and rock. Songs from Muddy Waters, Little Walter, T-Bone Walker and Howlin' Wolf share the list with The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Albert Collins and Taj Mahal, including My Babe, Crosscut Saw and She Caught the Katy. Between them the players have decades of experience from venues in Perth, Brisbane, New Zealand, the US and London. They bring their own PA, are insured and travel nationwide from the Sunshine Coast.
