McCarthys Reel is a Celtic band based in Brisbane, QLD.
Planning a ceilidh? McCarthys Reel play Celtic dance music for Irish and Scottish dances and sing Celtic songs, as a folk group rather than a rock band. The Brisbane band comes in sizes from two players up to five. Between them they cover fiddle, guitar, bodhran, tin whistle, banjo, concertina and octave mandolin, plus Highland and Uilleann pipes, and they sing lead and harmony. They bring their own sound system and need a couple of power points, a stage area big enough for the players, and a raised one if people are dancing. Outdoors, they need shade and no rain. Upstairs venues need a working lift, and for a longer gig a table and chairs help. They travel up to 50 km.
