Gareth Mewes is a violinist based in Brisbane, QLD.
One violinist, or a violin with one or two guitars: Gareth Mewes can be booked either way. Solo violin covers classical, jazz, pop and a fantasy or medieval flavour, Lord of the Rings medley included. Add a guitarist for gypsy jazz and pop, or two for the full gypsy jazz sound. The classical list runs deep, with all of Vivaldi's Four Seasons, Bach partitas, Monti's Czardas, Pachelbel's Canon and Paganini. Irish tunes are in there too. Gareth studied classical violin for 17 years at the Wollongong Conservatorium, won a 2015 competition to perform with The Cat Empire, and finished a jazz degree in 2018. He tours with the band Cigàny Weaver. Power nearby helps, though solo acoustic violin works without it. Brisbane is home, travel is nationwide, and he has both performers insurance and a Blue Card.
