Charlie McCarthy

Charlie McCarthy's violin can go in a lot of directions. Irish by birth, he has played in Celtic dance bands, jazz combos and symphony orchestras, and picks up session work in the studio as well. That breadth is useful at an event, where the music can move from something formal early on to a lively reel as the night loosens up. Students at the University of Tasmania learn contemporary violin from him, and he has turned up on the bills of Australia's big music festivals. Home is Hobart.
