Blueflies is a blues band based in Hobart, TAS.
Twenty-three years as the resident band at Hobart's Republic Bar says plenty about Blueflies. They're a four-piece blues band, two guitars, bass and drums, and they mix covers with originals written in the same spirit. Those covers come from Buddy Guy, Tom Waits, Mavis Staples, BB King, Larkin Poe, Jonny Lang, Amos Lee, Eric Clapton and Charlie Musselwhite, among plenty of others. It's a band made for a pub or bar night where people come for the music and stay for another round. They bring a PA and a few lights, and they handle their own set-up and pack-down. A stage is welcome if the venue has one. Based in Hobart, they'll travel up to 200 km.
