Batuka

Batuka is a family band. It started back in the 80s as Grupo Amigos, and the sons of the original members now carry it on. The Sydney group plays covers from Cuba's Buena Vista group, along with merengue, bachata, salsa, cumbia and reggaeton, and switches to disco and English Top 40 when the room calls for it. That range matters at a party where the guests are Greek, Italian, English or Spanish and all expect to dance. Beyond the band, Batuka run English and Latin DJ and video DJ services, and can add live congas or timbales over a DJ's beats. Their own PA comes along and handles indoor or outdoor venues, big or small.
