Batacuda is a drummer based in Melbourne, VIC.
Bins, prams, bicycles and coffee cups all become drums once Batacuda start roving through a crowd. This Melbourne troupe drums on the move, needs no PA, and plays rhythms from all over the world, rock 'n' roll among them, in between circus tricks like juggling fire or shoes and balancing a pram. Book the feature show, on a stage or in the round, and you also get drum solos, romantic drumming duels, contortion and a human pyramid. In one segment your guests are handed found objects, taught a few simple beats and led into a full carnival samba. Five players is the usual size, though it can reach 30, all drums or drums mixed with horns, everyone in bright costume. They've performed at the opening celebrations at Stadium Australia, Moomba's River Parade, the AFL Grand Final Parade and Melbourne's Summer in the City. Corporate functions, launches, festivals, weddings and major sporting events all suit them.
