Allan Brown is a jazz big band based in Brisbane, QLD.
Twenty musicians on one stage is the draw with the Allan Brown Big Band, a line-up drawn from Queensland's professional players. The set moves through swing, jazz and soul into funk, Latin and pop, so a night can start on well-known standards and finish on Top 40 hits with the floor still full. They can carry a five-hour function on their own, or stage a themed production with dancers and strings added. In-house arrangers mean an unusual request can be written up for the band. Over the years they've played alongside Frank Sinatra, Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones and Harry Connick Jnr, closed World Expo '88, opened the Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove and played the State of Origin. Brisbane is home.
