The Techno Tappet Team

Picture a pit crew in radiant orange overalls, hats and earmuffs, celebrating a race win with saxophones and drums. That's The Techno Tappet Team, a Melbourne roving band that moves through the grounds playing funky horn and drum tunes in a range of styles. They chat with the crowd as they go and coax people into dancing. Every one of them is both a musician and a street theatre performer, with gigs at home and abroad. Their debut came at the 2003 Grand Prix at Albert Park. Since then the crew has worked the MotoGP at Phillip Island, plus plenty of promotional and publicity jobs. Motor sport days suit it best, though festivals and community events work well too.
