The Sugar Shakers

Rockabilly, swing and rock 'n' roll from the late 40s and early 50s, played with more grit than the band's name suggests. The Sugar Shakers are a Brisbane four-piece who can fill up to four hours, mixing their own songs with covers of Wanda Jackson, Patsy Cline, Janis Martin and Pat Ferguson, plus the odd country and jazz number. They've supported Imelda May and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, played festivals including Big Day Out, and toured up and down the east coast. Their recordings include a self-titled seven-track EP from 2010 and the 12-track album Red Rocket Baby in 2012. For a rockabilly night, a jive-friendly wedding or a vintage-themed party, they bring the right kind of energy.
