The Sounds Of Silent is a jazz band based in Melbourne, VIC.
Put a Buster Keaton film on the big screen and a live jazz band in front of it. That's what The Sounds Of Silent do. The Melbourne five-piece has written scores for classic silent comedies and plays them live as the film runs. Keaton titles include The General, Sherlock Jr, Steamboat Bill Jr, College, The Cameraman and Spite Marriage. From Chaplin there's The Kid, City Lights, Modern Times, The Circus, The Gold Rush and The Great Dictator, plus Laurel and Hardy shorts like Liberty, Habeas Corpus and Wrong Again. Planning a centenary, or a party set in the Roaring Twenties? This is a clever fit. They can also rove as a band, or just play straight jazz, indoors or outside, for festivals, weddings and company events.
