Jazz Nouveau

Picture a song everyone at your party knows, then hear it played the way a vintage jazz combo would have played it. That's the idea Joseph Calderazzo started Jazz Nouveau with in 2003, and it still drives the set. Joseph plays guitar and draws on a pool of Sydney musicians, so the line-up can change from one booking to the next. Most nights Evelyn Duprai sings, with Charmaine Ford at the piano, Gary Holgate holding down the double bass and Dave Goodman behind the kit. They're a good match for cocktail hours and dinners where you want the music to feel familiar without sounding like the radio. Half the fun is working out which song it was.
