The Mood Merchants is a jazz band based in Geelong, VIC.
Size is the first decision with The Mood Merchants. The Geelong jazz outfit plays as a duo, trio or quintet, as a roving acoustic group, or as the full band, and they've worked everywhere from a dinner for six to the Crown Palladium. The pool of tunes they share runs into the thousands, so La Vie en Rose, Caravan, Take Five, The Girl from Ipanema and Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps are all fair game, along with Moondance and Sway. Their sound gear is included, and speeches can go through it. Breaks are timed around the formalities, and the PA can stay on for recorded music after the band finishes, for an extra hourly charge. Stationary sets need shelter and ideally a power point, though off-grid power is an option. Roving sets need somewhere to change. They go anywhere in Victoria, carry public liability cover, and players have WWC checks.
