The Fed Peasants is a band based in Adelaide, SA.
The Fed Peasants play their own songs, and they're built to dance to. The Adelaide six-piece's sound is upbeat folk with touches of jazz, blues, bossa nova and 60s pop, carried by group harmonies, violin and piano over a funky bass and drum groove. The lyrics are poetic and full of imagery, so there's something to listen to between dances. Songs include Ship in the Sky, Rat Race, One Black Violin, Urban Tonic, Old Nick, Pig Parade and Golden Fields, plus a cover of Golden Brown. The line-up is guitar, bass, piano, violin, percussion and vocals. For smaller functions they bring all the equipment, and a larger room will need extra PA. It's a band for a festival crowd or a party that would rather hear originals than the usual covers. They travel up to 100 km.
