The Alice Bisschops Trio

Alto saxophone, guitar and double bass, played softly enough that your guests can still talk. The Alice Bisschops Trio is a cool jazz instrumental group led by career saxophonist Alice Bisschops, playing the Great American Songbook, bossa nova and jazz standards. The Girl From Ipanema, Take 5, Desafinado and Fly Me to the Moon are favourites, and the music of Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra sits at the centre. Ask and they'll turn a pop song into an instrumental, as they have with Creep, Valerie and All of Me. For a livelier night there's a bigger version with drums, piano and a singer, with bebop and swing for ballroom dancers. They bring amps, or the full PA and backline for the larger line-ups, and their gear is test and tagged. Every member carries public liability cover and holds a Working With Children Check.
