Sydney Polynesian Dance is a Polynesian dancer based in Sydney, NSW.
The popular 30-minute floorshow from Sydney Polynesian Dance brings five to eight drummers, between four and seven men and five to eight women dancing, with time for audience participation. Two or three fire dancers can add the Samoan Siva Afi, and a string band is on offer too. Dances come from Hawaii, Samoa, Tahiti, the Cook Islands and New Zealand, in traditional and modern styles, so a show might move from Tahitian Otea and Hawaiian hula to Samoan Siva and a Māori haka with poi. Other Pacific cultures can be added on request. The dancers themselves come from Tonga, Samoa, Tahiti, Aotearoa, the Cook Islands and Rotuma in Fiji, and the group takes real care to present each culture accurately and respectfully. Corporate events, festivals, Christmas parties, weddings and birthdays are all regular bookings.
