Sanfona

Picture a Parisian jazz club and you're close to what Sanfona sound like. The Melbourne group blends French music and jazz, mixing gypsy jazz with bebop, funk and contemporary jazz, and much of the material is their own, either original tunes or fresh arrangements inspired by European players. A set can swing hard or settle into soft harmonies, which suits a long dinner where the music matters. You can have three, four or five players. Radio jazz shows have featured them, including Bent Notes on Joy FM, Global Village on 3PBS and Swing'n'Sway on 3CR. They've played Phillip Island Jazz Festival, Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Lilydale festival and the Melbourne Flower and Garden Show, plus 1806 Bar and Bar 303. They travel Australia-wide.
