River City Aces

Jump blues and early rhythm and blues from 1935 to 1955 is the territory for River City Aces, a Brisbane band playing the songs of Louis Prima, Wynonie Harris, Louis Jordan, Bull Moose Jackson, The Treniers and Clarence Samuels. A male lead vocal with harmonies sits out front, and the grooves are old school with plenty of cheeky lyrics. Every player was chosen for a grounding in that era, and they like to share what they know between songs, so a festival crowd or a themed night gets some of the story behind the music along with the tunes. That period fed straight into blues, jazz and rock, and the roots show. They play corporate events, weddings, themed events, concerts and festivals.
