Apache and Wonderful Land, the old Shadows instrumentals, are a highlight of an Out Of The Shadows night. Around them sits early rock 'n' roll and 60s pop that nearly everyone knows, and younger guests usually recognise plenty of it too. There's Elvis and the Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly in a medley, Johnny B. Goode and Rip It Up, then the Beatles, Love Potion No. 9, Mr Tambourine Man, Gloria and Light My Fire. Surf City and Help Me Rhonda bring the beach, Blue Moon brings the doo wop harmonies, Sway adds a Latin touch, and the era's classic girl songs include It's My Party and You Don't Own Me. Ballads like Stand By Me cover the quieter start or end of a night. The Sydney band knows over 100 songs and fits 40 or 50 into a typical gig, at corporate parties, weddings, balls, fundraisers, milestone birthdays and Christmas or New Year's Eve parties.
