Opera By Disguise

Somebody stands to give what looks like a routine speech, gets a few lines in, and starts to sing. That's the opening move of Opera By Disguise. The singers mingle as ordinary guests to begin with, and once the first voice gives the game away, a second fake guest joins in, then a third voice rises from somewhere in the crowd. By the reveal, tenor, soprano and baritone are together for a staged finale. The whole thing runs on comedy and surprise, and the repertoire takes in classical and contemporary pieces. A gala dinner, an awards evening or a wedding reception with speeches on the schedule gives them the best cover. The trio is based in Sydney.
