Martini Rouge is a jazz band based in Sydney, NSW.
Cocktail hour with Martini Rouge sounds like a smoky club somewhere between Paris and Rio. There are four of them, a singer with piano, double bass and drums, based in Sydney, and the set blends jazz, Latin, pop and lounge. Songs come in English, Italian, French and Spanish, which suits a wedding with guests from a few different backgrounds. Their jazz leans on Brubeck and Ellington, and the band draws on Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone and Django Reinhardt. They dig up forgotten jazz and Latin songs and write their own pieces inspired by them, so expect some tunes you won't have heard before. Their first public show was on the main arena at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2012. Book them for a dinner, a launch or a cocktail party where the music should have some flirt in it.
