Kara Coen

Upbeat funky soul and slow, dreamy love songs are the two sides of a Kara Coen set, built around a big voice and songs she writes herself. Her home is Yuin Nation country in south-east NSW. Bookings come in three sizes: Kara alone, a duo, or the full band, The FireFlies. The band first played the Cobargo Folk Festival in 2023, with drums, guitar and piano behind her and a sound that pulls soul, pop and indie rock together with funk and old-time jazz. For solo and duo shows there are around nine hours of covers and originals, and the band has three hours. Touring acts she has opened for include Sam Buckingham, Alex Lloyd and Tex Perkins. Just have power ready and they bring the rest. Kara is based in Quaama, travels up to 50 km and is fully insured.
