Greenstone

Greenstone bring a roots collective's mix of soul, reggae, funk and blues, and they've played festivals and venues on both sides of the Tasman. Brett Davey sings and plays guitar, his deep voice carrying a Māori soul feel, with woven harmonies around him. One player covers keys and saxophone, a heavy bass line anchors things, and the drummer brings a swamp beat. Add the percussion and the rhythm can build into something close to a Cuban drum circle. Based around Coffs Harbour and travelling up to 50 km, they suit an outdoor festival or a venue where people want to move.
