Dr Judy Ford spent about 25 years leading genetics laboratories, and a little genetics finds its way into most of her talks. Some tell her adventures as a female scientist, and one looks at Chernobyl five years after the accident. Others take on everyday and unusual health questions, among them fertility, cancer risk and breaking the cycle of stress, and she's happy to speak to support groups. Humour is how she lightens even the heaviest subject. Her lab work drew interviews from the BBC, CBC and NBC. She later spent five years as a professional speaker and legal expert, then trained PhD students at the University of South Australia in science communication. She'd like a good projector and screen, a microphone where the acoustics need it, and a table for books. Based in Sydney, she travels nationwide.
