Firefly is a jazz duo based in Brisbane, QLD.
Cocktail lounge jazz while guests arrive, swinging dance numbers later, and some French, Latin and folk along the way. With five eras of jazz to draw on, Firefly can let the music follow the shape of your evening. Kylie Southwell and Paul Henderson studied at the Queensland Conservatorium and have performed together ever since, as well as with plenty of Brisbane's best players. When you want more swing, Peter Walters joins on bass for the trio, and adding Mark Henman on drums makes the Firefly Quartet, which reaches into sultry blues, ballads and funk and Afro-jazz grooves. South East Queensland weddings and company functions make up most of their calendar, and they've done hundreds.
