Ewan Mackenzie

Ewan Mackenzie's band plays jazz with a strong blues lean, and they're working through a fresh set of Ewan's own tunes. He sings and plays guitar, with Mick Thatcher also on guitar, Chris Hartley on keys, Miranda Deutsch on bass and Robin Walsh on drums. The recordings go back a long way. Two of his albums, A Patch of Blue from 2001 and Turquoise from 1995, picked up Queensland awards. Alliance, a 2014 CD by an earlier electric version of the band, was taped in front of an audience at the Brisbane Jazz Club. Five players on original jazz-blues belong in a club room, a jazz night or a function where guests came for the band. Brisbane is home.
