Dezzie D And The Stingrayz is a band based in Brisbane, QLD.
Horns up front and a double bass underneath: Dezzie D and the Stingrayz play rhythm and blues the way it sounded in the 40s, 50s and 60s, with jump, swing and early jazz alongside. Desley Done, better known as Dezzie D, fronts the band, and originals share the night with covers from that era. You can book the five-piece, which includes tenor sax, or the seven-piece Fever 7z, which adds baritone sax and trumpet for festival stages and bigger shows. Behind her are Tyler Cooney on lead guitar, Elliot Parker on double bass, Greg Baikaloff on drums and a horn line of Dan Ford, Matt Luff and Clint Allen, several with conservatorium or Jazz Music Institute training. Formed in 2013, the Brisbane band plays at home, interstate and overseas. Think swing nights, festivals and parties that want to dance to something older than the usual covers.
