Blue Velvet Jazz is a jazz band based in Sydney, NSW.

This jazz band has played inside Sydney's Opera House, at Kirribilli House and through the Art Gallery of NSW, plus boutique breweries, CBD offices and private homes, which means Blue Velvet Jazz reads very different rooms without much trouble. A 1920s theme night suits them, and so does a straighter corporate function. The sound starts with a female vocalist over piano, then grows: add guitar or double bass for a trio, both together with drums for a quintet, and a saxophone joins for six players. Purely instrumental versions of every line-up are also on offer, useful for a ceremony or cocktail hour that doesn't call for vocals. Indemnity and liability cover is held, with the group willing to go 100 kilometres out from home in Sydney.
