Aj Hix and his Rhythm Six

Sofi Kerr's smoky vocals front Aj Hix and his Rhythm Six, a Perth jazz and swing band that dresses the part in 1930s and 40s style. Sets run about 45 to 60 minutes and mix high-energy swing with smooth jazz and slow dances, so the band can play for serious swing dancers or sit under a cocktail reception. The music comes from the era of Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Count Basie, plus Benny Goodman, Peggy Lee, Tony Bennett and Nat King Cole, with a few later swing-style tracks such as Diana Krall. A Gatsby night is an obvious match. For smaller events the band can drop to an instrumental four-piece. They need a small to medium PA, and a covered spot is preferred outdoors. They travel statewide.
