Waiting for Brenda is a cover band based in Brisbane, QLD.
Waiting for Brenda are six players who get a party dancing and keep telling stories between songs. The Brisbane band plays alt-country, rock and blues, much of it original, with lyrics by songwriter Brenda Lee Kelly and a sound built on dobro, fiddle, guitar, bass, drums and vocals. The covers range wide: Ring of Fire, Harper Valley PTA, Big Iron, Wagon Wheel, Fever, Jesse James by The Pogues, Billy Bragg's New England, the Go-Betweens' Right Here and the Sunnyboys' Alone with You. Their own Punk's Not Dead (It's Gone Country) sits happily beside them. Council events, cafes, weddings, festivals, bars, private parties and company functions have all had them on stage. For a work do that needs a fiddle and a bit of swagger, they travel up to 50 km.
