Two Tears in a Bucket

Most of what Two Tears in a Bucket play is their own. Around 70 per cent of the set is original blues and roots, with Nathan and Michelle mixing old picking styles like Piedmont and Delta with punk, funk and rock grooves. A stomp box gives the duo real rhythmic weight. The covers are chosen with care: Wayfaring Stranger, Lost Highway, Feelin' Good, Mr Fantasy, She's Got the Jack and Dance Me to the End of Love. Sets run 45 to 55 minutes. A drummer turns the duo into a trio, a bass player makes it four, and a five-piece is possible as well. Their PA suits small and medium rooms, they bring their own carpet, and the duo needs about two square metres and a power point. They've played major festivals and venues around Australia, supporting Mason Rack, Lecia Louise and Salt n Steel. Brisbane-based, insured, and they travel nationwide.
