Tropical Strength

Tropical Strength are an art rock band writing their own strange, layered songs. Brothers Alastair and Russell Webster lead the group, which runs anywhere from two to eight players and comes from up and down the NSW South Coast. Their songs are built like sound collages, full of memories, confessions and characters, and the live band has been playing in different forms since their record Zutti came out. The latest release is Ode To Nowra, an eight-minute spoken poem set over sprawling layers of sound, with harp, violin, piano, slide guitar, drums and guitar all in the mix. It's music for a listening crowd, a festival stage or an arts event, where the audience is there for songs they haven't heard before.
