James McLean plays drums and Stephen Magnusson plays guitar in TMT, a Fitzroy trio that is Tamara Murphy's newest project. The three have played together in plenty of different combinations over the years, and this line-up is the latest. Their set is modern covers, stretching from The Beatles through to Thom Yorke, with songs written by members of the band alongside. Players who know each other this well leave room in the music, and that suits a bar, a gallery opening or a dinner where the music deserves some attention.
