The Wipeouts is a cover band based in Melbourne, VIC.
Surfboards and beach balls come on stage with The Wipeouts, and the band dress in surf shirts to match. It's a 1960s show with surf music at its heart, both the harmony-singing Beach Boys side and the twangy instrumentals, and it's interactive, so the crowd gets pulled in. Their own go-go dancer, who runs a go-go dance school, performs with them. The rest of the decade gets a turn too: protest songs and hippy folk, pop and power pop, psychedelia and heavy rock. With more than 100 songs to draw on, you could hear Pipeline, Wipe Out, Surfin' USA and California Girls, then Bus Stop, Tin Soldier, Help, Hush, Satisfaction, Magic Carpet Ride, Last Train to Clarksville and Shakin' All Over. Book two or three sets. They carry their own PA, and for a gig on the beach they can bring a generator. Melbourne-based, travelling up to 50 km.
