Sumaya Harare

Sumaya Harare speaks to school and community audiences about bullying, resilience, inclusion and diversity, drawing on her own story. Her family came to Melbourne as refugees from war-torn Somalia, and she started primary school knowing very little English. Bullied for being different, she found her way through art and drawing, and today she's a children's author and illustrator as well as a speaker. Her keynote, From Struggle to Success, folds that journey into her storytelling, and she also speaks on creativity and to high school students. She'll need a handheld or lapel mic, plus a projector and computer for the presentation. A Working With Children Check is in place, and she travels statewide from Melbourne.
