Guests sit down for a few minutes and walk away with a cartoon of themselves, drawn on paper printed with your event's logo or message. That's how a Smithy booking works. As a Seven West Media cartoonist, Smithy draws for The Sunday Times and The Nightly, with international work published through Cartoon Movement. Live caricatures at Perth corporate events have been part of the job for more than 28 years, and the pace is quick: around 10 guests an hour, and up to 20 depending on the paper size you pick. At a work function where people drift between conversations, the little queue becomes a talking point of its own. The setup is modest: a little table, three comfy seats and enough light to draw by.
