Shyamjith Nair

Tabla, congas, bongos, a full drum kit and a Roland HandSonic can all be in play at once when Shyamjith Nair performs, and on top of that he sings. He's a trained Carnatic vocalist, and his shows include konnakol, the South Indian art of spoken rhythm, alongside live versions of Malayalam, Tamil and Bollywood hits. That mix of Indian tradition and modern sound makes him a strong choice for a cultural celebration, an Indian wedding or a party that wants live percussion to drive the dancing. He has played the Ellington Jazz Festival and the Fremantle Biennale, supported international acts, and produces music in Ableton Live. He's based in South Perth and travels nationwide.
