Sean Choolburra

Sean Choolburra's comedy comes with dance moves and a didgeridoo. The material grows out of his own life as an Aboriginal man, and much of the humour belongs to a small-town kid working out the big city. Audiences get pulled into what he calls Black Fella Yarns, and he still works dance and hip hop didge into the act. He was a dancer first, with Bangarra and then the Electric Boogaloos, before switching to comedy in 2002. Since then he's taken his stories to both the Adelaide and Edinburgh fringes, to Melbourne's big comedy festival, and to Scotland's storytelling festival as well as the Dreaming Festival. Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne audiences have also seen him host the Deadly Funnies. Television viewers might know him from The Footy Show, Thank God You're Here or Message Sticks. He takes bookings as a comedian, as an MC for corporate events and theatre shows, and for cultural workshops. Sydney-based.
