Sean Bell writes his own gothic post-punk songs, dark but danceable, built on grimy basslines, big guitars and mechanical beats. He handles electric guitar, bass and keys himself and sings every part on his recordings. The lyrics are raw and poetic, full of pop culture references and a sharp, self-aware streak, and the sound draws on distinctly Australian images of urban decay and harsh country.
