Powderworks is a tribute band based in Newcastle, NSW.
Beds Are Burning is on the list, of course. But so are Kosciusko, Cold Cold Change, Truganini and Short Memory, the kind of Midnight Oil songs cover bands tend to leave alone. Powderworks is a Newcastle rock band built entirely around that catalogue, with about thirty songs on its current list running from the 1978 debut album through to Capricornia in 2002. Powderworks itself is in there too, the track the band shares a name with. Ross McAlister fronts on guitars, vocals and keys, and Frank Manitta is on drums. The band is at its best on a full stage with an in-house PA, though it can bring its own PA and sound engineer at extra cost.
