PocketLove

Calypso isn't where most covers bands go looking for ideas, but PocketLove do. The Brisbane band takes familiar hits and runs them through funk, soul, jazz, Motown and that Caribbean lilt, so a song you know arrives sounding a little different. Sharōn Brooks leads from the front, with plenty of close harmony work around her. Line-ups run from four players up to six, with over 12 years of gigs behind the name. Disco and 70s, 80s and 90s material sit in the mix too, which keeps a mixed-age dance floor busy. The stage manner is playful, so the band has as much fun as the room does. Bookings reach 50 km out of Brisbane.
