Pete Mitchell Jazz

Saxophone and guitar is the pairing most people choose from Pete Mitchell Jazz, a relaxed sound for a cocktail hour. Pete can also play solo sax or a duo with piano, or lead a trio, quartet or quintet with drums, bass, piano and vocals for a gala or wedding. The sets move through jazz, funk, blues, Latin and pop: standards from Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis and Nat King Cole, reworked Stevie Wonder, Norah Jones and Bublé, instrumental takes on Top 40 songs, and grooves of his own, including tracks from his album Quirky. Themed sets cover a Gatsby night, Christmas jazz or a sunset session. Classically trained on saxophone and guitar, Pete has played professionally since the 1990s, in Melbourne jazz rooms such as Dizzy's, Bennett's Lane and the Paris Cat and on cruise ship residencies. He co-founded the group Take Four and has collaborated with the Melbourne Ska Orchestra.
