Nick Atherton

Nick Atherton's music is for listening. Blues and folk sit at the root of it, then it opens out, with flute melodies drifting over the top, psychedelic guitar improvisation and atmospheric textures, earthy rhythms giving way to wide, reflective passages. He's a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist with decades of live performance at venues and festivals, and his current project is called Roots and Beyond. It's a good choice for a festival stage, a gallery opening or a relaxed evening venue where people are happy to settle in and follow where the music goes. He's based in Cairns.
