Moussa Diakite and Wassado

Moussa Diakite's guitar is the thread through a Wassado set, and it pulls in a lot of places at once: Malian rhythms, Congolese guitar lines, highlife and Afrobeat, with Cuban, blues and jazz touches along the way. He sings and writes as well as plays. Born in Mali and now living in Western Sydney, Moussa has performed with Toumani Diabate and Salif Keita, and he's played a real part in getting African music heard in the West. For a festival stage, a cultural event or a party that wants something warmer and more rhythmic than the usual covers, this is music people move to without being told.
