Mother Culture

Brothers Darcy and Spencer Ward are Mother Culture. They write, play and produce all their own music in a home studio in Melbourne, where it comes out as a big mix of indie rock, psychedelia and pop. On a live booking the sound gets pared down to two voices over piano and acoustic guitar. A set mixes covers from different eras and genres with pared-down versions of their originals, songs like Dive, Princess Die, Should She Stay and Lust for Love. That quieter approach suits a small bar, a gallery opening or an intimate party. They bring their full gear, and a stage and lighting from the venue helps. They travel up to 200 km.
